Short description
A poor, struggling South Carolinian mother and daughter face painful choices with their resolve and pride. Bone, the eldest daughter, and Anney her tired mother, grow both closer and farther apart: Anney sees Glen as her last chance.
What's left behind the scenes
- Ron Eldard spent a considerable amount of time playing sports with Jenna Malone so that the actors could get used to one another and she would feel relaxed and comfortable in scenes where he had to treat her poorly. According to him, he never allowed himself any inappropriate physical contact with his co-star; even in scenes where he appeared to grab her by the throat, he was actually only touching her with his fingertips. Eldard was firmly convinced that simulating behavior that left no doubt that a rape was about to occur was a necessity for the film.
