Lone Wolf and Cub: Baby Cart in Peril

Ogami Itto, the wandering executioner, accepts a contract to kill Oyuki, a tattooed woman warrior who has turned against the clan she once served. She kills the samurai sent after her and takes a token of shame from each defeated opponent, and her case has drawn the attention of the central authorities. As Ogami tracks her, he also crosses paths with Yagyu Gunbei, a member of the clan that ruined him, and the two men confront each other. Ogami travels with his young son, Daigoro, who shares the road with him.

The film is the fourth entry in the live-action series adapted from the manga written by Kazuo Koike and drawn by Goseki Kojima. It was directed by Buichi Saitō, the thirty-seventh of the forty films he directed in chronological order, following The Kanto Brothers' Code of Honor and preceding A Kawachi Rascal's Song. Tomisaburô Wakayama plays Ogami Itto and also produced, alongside Hisaharu Matsubara, from a screenplay by Koike. Akihiro Tomikawa appears as Daigoro, with Yoichi Hayashi as Yagyu Gunbei, Michi Azuma as Oyuki and Asao Koike as Tokugawa Yoshinao.

Made by Toho with Katsu Production, the film runs eighty-one minutes. On IMDb it holds a rating of 7.5 from around 5,400 votes, while on TMDB it stands at 7.3 from roughly 160 votes, placing it among the better-regarded entries for viewers of the series.
