Mandragora

Marek, a fifteen-year-old from a provincial village, leaves home for Prague after his school troubles catch up with him. He is robbed soon after arriving, and a man named Honza comes to his aid with an offer of work. Instead, Honza takes him to an apartment, drugs him, and draws him into prostitution at the city's main railway station, where Czech teenagers wait for foreign clients. The world Marek enters is one of drugs, violence and exploitation, and he learns how quickly a newcomer can be pulled under. Smarter than the others around him, he joins forces with a friend, David, to pursue wealthier clients and save enough money to get out. Their plan brings in some cash, but when the moment comes to leave the city behind, Marek cannot go through with it and drifts back.

Mandragora is a Czech drama directed by Wiktor Grodecki, who wrote the screenplay with David Švec. Miroslav Čáslavka plays Marek, with Švec as David and Pavel Skřípal as Honza. The film runs just over two hours.
