Short description
Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers is a 2022 comedy adventure set in a version of Los Angeles where animated characters and humans live side by side. Decades after their television series was cancelled, the former co-stars have drifted apart. Chip has settled into an ordinary suburban life as an insurance salesman, while Dale has undergone CGI surgery and now makes a living on the nostalgia convention circuit, trying to hold on to his past fame. When a former castmate goes missing, the two must rebuild their broken friendship and return to their detective roles to find him.
The film was directed by Akiva Schaffer, his sixth feature, arriving between The Unauthorized Bash Brothers Experience and The Naked Gun. Dan Gregor and Doug Mand wrote the screenplay, and David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman produced it for Walt Disney Pictures and Mandeville Films. The voice cast includes John Mulaney as Chip and Andy Samberg as Dale, with KiKi Layne, Will Arnett, Eric Bana and Flula Borg in supporting roles.
Made for a budget of 70 million dollars, it runs 99 minutes. On IMDb it holds a 6.9 rating from around 51,000 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 7 out of about 1,400 votes. Its critics' rating of 6.9 from 139 reviews is close to the audience scores, indicating a broadly similar reception across both groups.

- At the beginning of the film, it is shown that Dale has his own show called “Double-0-Dale.” The reason is that in the early 1990s, they planned to release a show called “Double-0-Duck,” but it soon turned out that the rights to that title were held by the estate of Ian Fleming (1908-1964), the author of the James Bond series, and “Double-0-Duck” was renamed “Darkwing Duck.”
