Berlin Express

Berlin Express is set in Europe in the years just after the Second World War, as a train carries a mixed group of passengers from Paris toward occupied Germany. Among them is Dr. Heinrich Bernhardt, a German pacifist travelling to take part in efforts to unify the country. When a conspiracy involving former Nazis puts his mission in danger, the other travellers, an American, an Englishman, a Frenchwoman, a Russian soldier and others, find themselves drawn into a search through the ruins of Frankfurt.

The film was directed by Jacques Tourneur, released in 1948 and running 87 minutes. It followed Out of the Past in his filmography and came before Wichita. Harold Medford wrote the screenplay, Bert Granet produced it, and RKO Radio Pictures made it. Merle Oberon, Robert Ryan, Charles Korvin, Paul Lukas, Robert Coote and Reinhold Schünzel lead a credited cast of 59.

On IMDb the film holds a rating of 6.8 from around 4,000 votes, while on TMDB it stands at 6.3 from 68 votes. The larger IMDb sample suggests a reasonably settled standing among viewers who seek out postwar thrillers, whereas the much smaller TMDB figure reflects a limited number of responses.
