The Jesus Rolls

The Jesus Rolls follows Jesus Quintana, a bowler just out of prison, who teams up with two other misfits, Petey and Marie. What begins as a freewheeling spree of petty crime and romance soon turns into a chase, as the trio goes on the run from a hairdresser named Paul Dominique, as well as from the law and from society at large. The bond between the three characters shifts as they travel together. The film is a spin-off from The Big Lebowski, centring on the Jesus Quintana character from that earlier film.

John Turturro directs, writes and stars as Quintana. It is the fifth film he has directed, following Illuminata, Romance & Cigarettes, Fading Gigolo and Rio, I Love You. The cast includes Audrey Tautou as Marie, Bobby Cannavale as Petey, Jon Hamm as Paul Dominique, Sônia Braga as Mother and Christopher Walken as Warden. Fernando Sulichin produces, and the production companies are Sidney Kimmel Entertainment, Tribus P Film and New Element Media.

Made for a budget of 5 million US dollars, the film runs 85 minutes and blends comedy, crime, drama and romance. It has found little favour with audiences, holding a rating of 4.4 out of 10 on IMDb from around 6,000 votes and the same score on TMDB from 182 votes. A critics' rating of 4.1 out of 10 from 45 reviews places it close to the audience scores.
