Short description

A crew of thieves sets out to rob a U.S. Treasury facility as a powerful hurricane bears down on the coast. The storm is meant to serve as cover for the job, but when it grows far stronger than expected, the plan begins to fall apart. Left in the path of the weather are Will, a government meteorologist, his brother Breeze, and Casey, a Treasury agent, who end up working together against the criminals.

The film is directed by Rob Cohen, working from a screenplay by Scott Windhauser and Jeff Dixon, and it follows Alex Cross and The Boy Next Door in his filmography. Toby Kebbell plays Will, with Maggie Grace as Casey, Ryan Kwanten as Breeze, Ralph Ineson as Perkins, Melissa Bolona as Sasha and Ben Cross as Dixon. It was produced by Mark Damon, Karen Elise Baldwin and Moshe Diamant.

Released in 2018, the film runs 103 minutes and combines action, adventure, crime and thriller elements. Against a budget of about 35 million dollars, it took in roughly 33 million worldwide. On IMDb it holds 5.9 out of 10 from around 5,800 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 5.7 from about 1,100 votes. A critics' rating of 5.7 from six reviews puts it close to the audience scores.

What's left behind the scenes

  • The trailer informs the viewer that the robbery is planned during a monstrous hurricane, with wind speeds reaching 965 km/h. The highest wind speed recorded to date was around 346 km/h, during Hurricane Patricia in 2015.
  • The flashback scenes set in Poland were filmed in the UK because the winter in Eastern Europe had been warm and snowless.
  • The aerial combat scenes were filmed using Hurricane fighter fuselage mock-ups, full-scale models of the aircraft, one actual fighter (only nine of which remain in the world), and digital technology.
  • An airport in White Waltham, west of London, served as the RAF Northolt base because too few World War II-era buildings remained at Northolt, whereas White Waltham still had grass runways.
