Short description
As the Avengers and their allies have continued to protect the world from threats too large for any one hero to handle, a new danger has emerged from the cosmic shadows: Thanos. A despot of intergalactic infamy, his goal is to collect all six Infinity Stones, artifacts of unimaginable power, and use them to inflict his twisted will on all of reality. Everything the Avengers have fought for has led up to this moment - the fate of Earth and existence itself has never been more uncertain.

What's left behind the scenes

  • This is the first film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe directed by the Russo brothers for which the music was not composed by Henry Jackman.
  • Tom Holland was not allowed to read the full script for the film because he had revealed too many secrets from 'Spider-Man: Homecoming'.
  • During the filming of scenes at Durham Cathedral (UK), which took place in May 2017, security was so strict that even the cathedral vergers were not allowed inside. The filming took place on a Saturday, and almost all the benches were removed to accommodate the sets. All the benches had to be returned to their place for Sunday service, and then taken out again on Monday to finish filming.
  • After 'Infinity War,' five actors from the original 'Avengers' – Scarlett Johansson, Chris Evans, Jeremy Renner, Robert Downey Jr., and Chris Hemsworth – got identical tattoos – a modified Avengers logo with the number 'six' inside – representing the number of superheroes in the original team. The actors suggested Mark Ruffalo follow their example, but he categorically refused.
  • Due to Mark Ruffalo's absentmindedness or excessive talkativeness, details of new projects had already leaked to the press, so this time he was given a fake script. In one interview, he jokingly stated that the fake script seemed even more interesting than the real one.
  • The film "Avengers: Infinity War" contains a reference to the series "Arrested Development," which is also directed by the film's directors, Anthony and Joe Russo. On the "Forgotten" station in the Collector's storage, you can see the character Tobias Fünke repainted blue. Actor David Cross was too busy to play the part, and he was replaced by an unknown extra covered in blue paint, as in one of the episodes of the TV show.
  • The filmmakers devised several rules that prevent Thanos from immediately defeating the remaining characters in the battle. For example, before using a stone, Thanos must clench his fist.
  • Bruce Banner directly communicates with Hulk for the first time in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
  • The creators of this film were unaware of the war chants devised by the cast of Ryan Coogler's science fiction action film "Black Panther" (2018), as work on them was still in progress. The chants were initiated by M'Baku (played by Winston Duke) and picked up by Chadwick Boseman, who played the main character.
  • Directors the Russo brothers insisted that Chris Pratt (who played Peter Quill – Star-Lord) gain some weight to at least somewhat match Rocket's line (voiced by Bradley Cooper): "Quill, one more sandwich and you'll be just fat."
  • Captain America (also known as Steve Rogers, played by Chris Evans) wears the same suit in the film as he did in Anthony and Joe Russo's science fiction action film "Captain America: Civil War" (2016), though it was modified somewhat, with the colors being less bright than before and the insignia removed. The scales are a reference to the original costume from the comics.
  • Proxima Midnight (played by Carrie Coon) from the Black Order is typically depicted in black horned helmet in the comics. The horned helmet was replaced with horns growing from her head to avoid confusion with Hela's helmet from Taika Waititi's science fiction action film "Thor: Ragnarok" (2017).
  • The scenes were filmed on location – in the state of Georgia, featuring African flora in the frame. To be more precise, only the foreground was filmed, while everything in the background was added using chroma key technology (a green screen).
  • The main film poster depicts 24 characters, 12 of whom survive, and another 12 perish, as if to confirm Thanos’s phrase about the need to maintain balance and destroy half of the universe.
  • The final scene, in which Thanos emerges from the hut and looks at the rice paddies in the rays of the setting sun, was filmed in the Philippines. Josh Brolin, who played Thanos, was inserted into the frame using computer graphics. According to the original comics, Thanos went into voluntary exile to reflect on his loss and took up farming there. In the film, he chose rice plantations in the Philippine province of Ifugao.
  • The flashback shows that Thanos (played by Josh Brolin) destroyed the population of Gamora’s (played by Zoe Saldana) home planet when Gamora was still a child, and then adopted her. The original comics state that Thanos created her using genetic engineering methods.
  • Some shots in the trailers were altered digitally to avoid spoilers. For example, the Infinity Stones were removed from Thanos’s gauntlet in the final battle.
  • Tom Holland was not allowed to read the full script of the film because he revealed too many secrets from “Spider-Man: Homecoming.”
  • After “Infinity War,” five actors from the original “Avengers” cast – Scarlett Johansson, Chris Evans, Jeremy Renner, Robert Downey Jr., and Chris Hemsworth – got identical tattoos: a modified Avengers logo with the number “six” inside, representing the number of superheroes in the original team. The actors suggested Mark Ruffalo follow their example, but he categorically refused.
  • “Avengers: Infinity War” contains an Easter egg referencing the series “Arrested Development,” which is also directed by the film’s directors, Anthony and Joe Russo. On the “Forgotten” station in the Collector’s storage, you can see the character Tobias Fünke repainted blue. Actor David Cross was too busy to play the part, and he was replaced by an unknown extra covered in blue paint, as in one of the episodes of the TV show.
