Ben Warren is travelling by stagecoach with his fiancée, Jennifer Ballard, bound for California where they intend to settle. The coach is held up by Frank Slayton and his gang, who seize the gold being carried, leave Warren for dead and take Jennifer with them. Recovering, Warren sets out in pursuit. The people he meets along the way are unwilling to involve themselves, but he gathers a small group willing to ride with him and settle accounts with Slayton.
Gun Fury is a 1953 Columbia Pictures western directed by Raoul Walsh, the nineteenth of the twenty-three films he directed in chronological order, following The Enforcer and preceding Battle Cry. The screenplay is by Irving Wallace and Roy Huggins, and Lewis J. Rachmil produced. Rock Hudson plays Ben Warren, with Donna Reed as Jennifer Ballard. Philip Carey appears as the gang leader Frank Slayton, and the cast includes Roberta Haynes, Leo Gordon and Lee Marvin.
The film runs eighty-three minutes. On IMDb its rating stands at 6.1 from around two thousand votes, and on TMDB it also sits at 6.1, from roughly fifty votes. The similar figures on both platforms reflect a modest, steady reception rather than a wide divergence between the two groups of viewers.
