Short description
Tomorrow, When the War Began follows a group of Australian teenagers who head into the bush for a camping trip in a remote valley they nickname Hell. When they return home, they find their town abandoned and their families gone, taken by an invading military force. Cut off and unsure of who is still free, the friends decide to fight back rather than surrender.
The 2010 Australian film was directed and written by Stuart Beattie, marking his first time in the director's chair, ahead of I, Frankenstein in 2014. It stars Caitlin Stasey as Ellie Linton, alongside Rachel Hurd-Wood, Phoebe Tonkin, Deniz Akdeniz, Lincoln Lewis and Chris Pang. It was produced by Andrew Mason and Michael Boughen for Omnilab Media and Ambience Entertainment.
The film runs 103 minutes. Reviews from critics averaged 5.5 out of 10 across 58 reviews, while audiences gave it 6.1 on IMDb from around 33,000 votes and 6.1 on TMDB from roughly 560 votes, a close match between the two. Made for a reported 27 million USD, it returned about 17 million USD worldwide.
