Ray Breslin leads a team of security experts who specialize in getting people out of prisons that are meant to be impossible to escape. Their work is upended when Shu Ren, one of the team's operatives, is abducted and locked away inside a secret, highly advanced facility known as Hades, where other specialists in breaking out are also held. The prison is unlike anything the team has faced, and reaching Shu means getting inside it, not merely getting out. Ray turns to people he has worked with before, including Trent DeRosa and the surveillance expert Hush, to attempt a rescue. The film follows the 2013 release Escape Plan and is set some years after it.
Steven C. Miller directed from a screenplay by Miles Chapman, with Sylvester Stallone returning as Ray Breslin and Dave Bautista, 50 Cent, Jesse Metcalfe, Huang Xiaoming and Wes Chatham among the cast. It was the sixth of the ten features Miller directed between 2012 and 2025, arriving between First Kill and Arsenal and Line of Duty. Made for a reported twenty million dollars, it took in roughly eighteen million worldwide.
Reception was weak across the board: the film critics' rating sits at 2.5 out of 10 from twenty-seven reviews, while audiences were somewhat more forgiving, giving it 3.9 on IMDb from about thirty-eight thousand votes and 5.2 on TMDB from around sixteen hundred.
