Assassination Nation

Four high school seniors in the town of Salem find themselves at the center of a crisis when an anonymous hacker starts publishing residents' private messages, photographs and personal data online. As the leaked material spreads, the community turns on itself and suspicion falls on the girls, who are blamed for the intrusion. Lily Colson and her friends spend a single night trying to stay ahead of a town that has given way to paranoia and violence, in a story that plays on the idea of a modern-day witch hunt.

Sam Levinson wrote and directed the film, his second feature after Another Happy Day in 2011, ahead of Malcolm & Marie and Euphoria: A Look Back. Odessa Young plays Lily, with Hari Nef, ABRA, Suki Waterhouse and Anika Noni Rose among the principal cast, and Colman Domingo appearing as Principal Turrell. David S. Goyer and Anthony and Joe Russo are credited as producers.

Released in September 2018, the film runs 108 minutes and mixes comedy, horror and thriller elements. Made for about 7 million dollars, it returned roughly 3 million at the worldwide box office. On IMDb it holds 6 out of 10 from around 23,000 votes, and on TMDB 6.2 out of 10 from more than 900 votes, while a critics' rating of 6.8 out of 10 from 141 reviews places it somewhat higher with reviewers than with general audiences.
