Short description
A family struggles to survive in a world overrun by creatures that hunt by sound. The Abbotts live on an isolated farm, keeping absolutely quiet: they walk barefoot, use sign language, and avoid every noise that could draw the creatures' attention. Parents Evelyn and Lee protect their children Regan and Marcus, for whom a single sound can mean death.
A Quiet Place is a 2018 American horror and science fiction film directed by John Krasinski, who also stars alongside Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds, Noah Jupe, Cade Woodward and Leon Russom. Krasinski wrote the screenplay with Scott Beck and Bryan Woods, and Michael Bay, Andrew Form and Bradley Fuller produced it. It was Krasinski's second directorial feature, following The Hollars, and it began a series of films he continued to direct, including A Quiet Place Part II and a further installment released in 2027.
Made for a modest budget of about 17 million dollars, the film earned roughly 341 million dollars worldwide, a strong return. On IMDb it holds 7.5 out of 10 from around 654,000 votes, and on TMDB 7.4 from more than 15,000 votes, while critics gave it an average of 8.2 out of 10 across 387 reviews, a higher mark than audiences awarded. The film runs 91 minutes.

- Filming took place primarily on West Dover Road in the town of Pawling, New York, and occasionally in the town of Little Falls, also in New York State.
- The device worn by Regan is not a hearing aid, but a cochlear implant. This indicates that she has sensorineural hearing loss, meaning her inner ear is damaged. A cochlear implant converts vibrations in the air into neural impulses that the brain perceives as sounds.
- Filming took place mainly on West Dover Road in the towns of Pawling and Little Falls, New York State.
- These creatures are blind, yet they run through the forest at high speed without bumping into trees, and navigate a house perfectly – walking up stairs and opening doors. However, they don't do this using echolocation, otherwise they could determine a person's location, but as long as that person doesn't make a sound, they can't.
- Significant blood loss during early labor is not normal and indicates some complications. This explains why Evelyn lost consciousness after giving birth, and why the baby didn't cry for a long time, allowing it to be safely carried to the soundproof room.
- Emily Blunt and John Krasinski, who played a married couple on screen, are also married in real life. The film used photographs of their actual children.
- Initially, the creators did not plan to add subtitles to the film, expecting the audience to understand what was happening anyway, so the first trailer was without them. However, during editing, when the scene where Reagan argues with his father about hearing aids came up, it was decided to add subtitles, and ultimately all dialogues in sign language were dubbed with subtitles.

- At the 12th minute of the film, when the father checks the available shortwave stations and crosses out the line with Japan, you can notice a typo in the name of the capital: Toyko instead of Tokyo.
- A creature with such acute hearing that it can hear the sound of breaking glass in a basement from several kilometers away in the forest should, in a small, enclosed space, hear not only a person's breathing, but also their heartbeat and blood flowing through their veins. But instead, the creature, and not immediately, hears the sound of a ticking timer, which an ordinary person can hear.
