Spider-Man: Homecoming follows Peter Parker as he returns to his life as a high school student in Queens after fighting alongside the Avengers. Juggling classes, friendships and his aunt May's household with secret crime-fighting, he looks to Tony Stark for guidance while trying to prove he is ready for more than small-time neighbourhood heroics. His ambitions collide with Adrian Toomes, a weapons dealer known as the Vulture, whose activities threaten the people closest to Peter.
Jon Watts directed the film, his third feature after Clown and Cop Car, and the first of three Spider-Man films he made with Tom Holland in the lead. Holland plays Peter, with Michael Keaton as Toomes, Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark, Marisa Tomei as May Parker, Jon Favreau as Happy Hogan and Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper Potts. John Francis Daley, Christopher Ford and Jonathan Goldstein wrote the screenplay, and Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal produced. With 82 credited cast members and 271 credited crew, the production was large in scale.
Made for a budget of 175 million USD, the film took about 880 million USD worldwide, a strong return on that investment. Audiences rate it 7.4/10 on IMDb from 791,000 votes and 7.3/10 on TMDB from 23,941 votes. Film critics gave it 7.7/10 across 396 reviews, a slightly warmer response than the general audience.

- This was the first Spider-Man film where the special effects for the main character’s image were created not by a company affiliated with copyright holder Sony, but by Industrial Light & Magic. This company is often responsible for the special effects in films from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

- The Vulture became the fourth member of the original Sinister Six to appear in Spider-Man films. In Sam Raimi's "Spider-Man 2" (2004) and "Spider-Man 3: Enemy of the Realm" (2007), the main character faced Doctor Octopus and Sandman, respectively. In "The Amazing Spider-Man: High Voltage" (Marc Webb, 2014), the hero fought Electro. Mysterio and Kraven the Hunter are also members of the Sinister Six.

- According to actor Pierre Niney, representatives from Marvel Studios contacted his agents and invited him to audition for the role of Peter Parker. - According to Zendaya, while auditioning, she knew nothing about the project and thought she was competing for a supporting role in some teen movie.
