In the French countryside, life on a small farm is far from quiet. A fox who cannot frighten anyone or hunt takes eggs from the henhouse, intending to raise the chicks and eat them later, but the hatchlings treat him as their mother and he grows fond of them, which complicates his plan. Around the same farm, a rabbit is persuaded by a duck to act as a stork and deliver a baby, and the duck himself sets his sights on replacing Santa Claus, bringing the farm and the surrounding woods into the Christmas festivities. The film is an animated comedy made up of connected stories about these animals and their schemes.
Benjamin Renner directed the film with Patrick Imbert, following Renner's Ernest & Celestine in 2012; Renner also wrote the screenplay with Jean Regnaud, and Vincent Tavier and Didier Brunner produced. The voice cast includes Guillaume Darnault as the fox, Damien Witecka as the pig, Kamel Abdessadok as the rabbit, Antoine Schoumsky as the duck and Céline Ronté as the hen, among twenty credited performers.
Made in Belgium and France on a budget of about 3 million dollars, the film took roughly 19 million dollars worldwide. On IMDb it holds 7.4 out of 10 from over 3,500 votes, and on TMDB 7.7 out of 10 from more than 300 votes; a critics' rating of 7.3 out of 10 from 30 reviews places it close to the audience scores.
