Night School

Teddy Walker has built a comfortable life on smooth talk rather than schooling, working as a salesman and winning recognition for his results despite never finishing high school. When a mishap destroys his workplace, he sets his sights on a new career that requires the diploma he lacks, so he enrolls in an adult night class at his old high school. There he runs into the principal, a former classmate who was once the target of Teddy's teasing and now seems determined to make his return difficult. The class brings together a group of adults with their own reasons for being there, taught by an instructor who is committed to getting them through the exam even as she questions Teddy's prospects.

Malcolm D. Lee directed the film, the ninth in the chronological list of his features, arriving after Girls Trip. Kevin Hart stars as Teddy and co-wrote the screenplay with John Hamburg and Nicholas Stoller; Hart also produced alongside Will Packer. Tiffany Haddish plays the teacher Carrie, with Rob Riggle, Romany Malco, Taran Killam and Megalyn Echikunwoke in supporting roles.

Released in late September 2018, the comedy runs 111 minutes and was made for 29 million dollars, earning 33 million worldwide. On IMDb it holds 5.6 out of 10 from about 49,000 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 6.1 from roughly 1,800 votes. A critics' score of 4.3 from 143 reviews places it somewhat below the audience figures.
