Shadow

A kind scholar named Christian-Theodore visits a small land where miracles are possible. He becomes enamored with a princess whose future spouse will inherit the throne. Seeking a way to win her hand, the scientist releases his own shadow to act as an assistant. However, the shadow proves to be a greedy and selfish entity that betrays its creator. By manipulating the situation, the shadow manages to marry the princess and seize royal power for himself. The story serves as a musical fantasy exploring the conflict between honesty and malice.

Produced by Lenfilm in the Soviet Union, the film was directed by Nadezhda Kosheverova. The screenplay was written by Yuli Dunsky and Valeri Frid. The cast features Oleg Dal in the dual role of the scientist and his shadow, alongside Anastasiya Vertinskaya as the princess.
