Noah's Ark is an Argentine-Italian animated comedy that retells the biblical flood as a comic adventure. God, disappointed by human behaviour, decides to wipe the world clean, but first orders the righteous Noah to build a great vessel and gather his family and a pair of every animal species on board. Life at sea soon proves difficult: the passengers struggle to get along, tensions run high among Noah's three sons and their wives, and the predatory animals eye the plant-eating ones with more than passing interest. Noah himself has trouble keeping the whole enterprise under control. High above, God follows every development with the help of a loyal angel who is taking notes for a book meant to become the greatest bestseller of all time.
The film was directed by Juan Pablo Buscarini and released in 2007, the first of the titles listed in his directorial filmography. The screenplay is by Axel Nacher, Enrique Cortés and Fernando Schmidt, and the voice cast includes Juan Carlos Mesa as Noah, Jorge Guinzburg, Mariana Fabbiani, Alejandro Fantino, Enrique Porcellana and Magdalena Ruiz Guiñazú, among 23 credited performers. Made by Patagonik, it is a light, family-oriented take on the familiar story.
Reception was modest. On IMDb it holds a rating of 5.1 from around 620 votes, and on TMDB it stands at 4.9 from about 40 votes, suggesting limited and mixed approval from the audiences who saw it. Its worldwide box office of roughly six million dollars reflects a small-scale release rather than a major international animation hit.
