Set on a distant planet, Inseminoid (1981) follows a team of interplanetary archaeologists investigating the ruins of a vanished civilisation. Their expedition is interrupted by an alien presence that attacks one of the women, Sandy (Judy Geeson), leaving her pregnant with an alien organism. As the pregnancy develops, she turns on her colleagues one by one, and the surviving crew must decide how to deal with the threat inside their own base.
The film is a British science-fiction horror picture directed by Norman J. Warren, written by Nick Maley and Gloria Maley, and produced by Richard Gordon and David Speechley. Alongside Geeson, the cast includes Robin Clarke, Jennifer Ashley, Stephanie Beacham, Steven Grives, Barrie Houghton and Rosalind Lloyd. It was made for around 2 million dollars, a modest figure for a genre film of its period, and runs 91 minutes.
Audience response has been poor: on IMDb it holds a rating of 4 out of 10 from roughly 4,900 votes, and on TMDB a rating of 4.1 out of 10 from about 123 votes. The two figures are close, suggesting a consistently negative reaction rather than a divided one, with the larger IMDb sample reflecting the film's limited but enduring reach among horror viewers.
