The Red Sea Diving Resort

The Red Sea Diving Resort dramatizes a covert Israeli operation to move thousands of Ethiopian Jews out of Sudan and into Israel in the early 1980s. A Mossad agent, Ari Levinson, assembles a small team of operatives and sets them up in an abandoned holiday village on the Sudanese coast. The resort is reopened as a working tourist business, giving the agents a plausible reason to be there while they ferry refugees toward safety. Local authorities grow suspicious as the operation expands, and the team depends on a Sudanese Jewish contact, Kabede Bimro, whose own efforts to help his people predate theirs.

Gideon Raff wrote and directed the film, his second feature after The Killing Floor. Chris Evans leads the cast as Ari Levinson, with Haley Bennett, Alessandro Nivola, Michael Kenneth Williams and Michiel Huisman among the credited performers. The production was mounted by Bron Studios, Creative Wealth Media Finance, EMJAG Productions and G. Raff, and it runs 130 minutes.

The film was released in 2019. On IMDb critics gave it 4.6 out of 10, while on TMDB viewers rated it 6.8 from 875 votes, a wider gap between professional and audience response than is typical. It fits the historical thriller and drama categories, drawing on real rescue missions while building its own fictionalized version of them.
