The Informer

The Informer follows Pete Koslow, a former special-forces soldier in New York who is drawn into the orbit of the Polish mafia. When he goes to prison after defending his wife, the FBI offers him a way out: inform on the criminal organisation, and in particular on its boss, Klimek, known as the General. The arrangement collapses when an operation goes wrong and an undercover officer is killed, leaving Koslow caught between mobsters who suspect him and federal agents pursuing their own aims, with his family's safety at stake.

Andrea Di Stefano directed, working from a screenplay he wrote with Rowan Joffe and Matt Cook. It is the second of the four features he has directed, arriving between Escobar: Paradise Lost and Last Night of Amore. Joel Kinnaman plays Koslow, with Rosamund Pike, Common, Ana de Armas, Clive Owen and Sam Spruell among the cast. The production involved 36 credited cast members and 154 credited crew.

Released in 2019, the film had a budget of 60 million US dollars and took about 3 million dollars worldwide, a wide gap between cost and return. On IMDb it holds 6.6 out of 10 from around 46,000 votes, while on TMDB it has 6.5 from roughly 983 votes. A critics' rating of 5.8 from 57 reviews places it slightly below the audience scores.
