Destroyer

Erin Bell, a Los Angeles police detective, once worked undercover inside a criminal crew. That assignment went wrong and left her life in ruins. Years later, still worn down by what happened, she is called to a murder scene whose evidence points to Silas, the gang's leader, resurfacing after being thought gone. His return pushes Erin back through the old case and the people connected to it, including her estranged daughter, as she tries to settle what she destroyed and stop him.

Destroyer is a crime drama directed by Karyn Kusama, her fifth narrative feature after Girlfight, Æon Flux, Jennifer's Body and The Invitation, and it followed her segment in the anthology XX. Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi wrote the screenplay and produced alongside Fred Berger. Nicole Kidman plays Erin, with Toby Kebbell as Silas, Tatiana Maslany, Sebastian Stan, Scoot McNairy and Bradley Whitford among the supporting cast.

The film was released in December 2018 and runs 121 minutes. Made for about 9 million dollars, it took in roughly 6 million worldwide, well short of its cost. Ratings sit in the middle range, with 6.2 from over 31,000 votes on IMDb and 5.9 from 821 votes on TMDB, while critics gave it 6.7 from 266 reviews, slightly higher than audiences did.
