Following the fall of Troy to Greek forces, the remaining royal women face a bleak future in the ruins of their city. Queen Hecuba observes the destruction of her kingdom while her daughter Cassandra and daughter-in-law Andromache deal with the loss of their family members. The survivors face the threat of execution or enslavement as concubines for the victors. Tension rises as the Greeks decide the fate of Astyanax, the young son of Hector and the final male heir to the Trojan throne.
