Mothers' Instinct

Set in 1960s Brussels, this drama follows Alice and Céline, two close friends whose families live in identical middle-class homes. Their deep bond extends to their husbands and eight-year-old sons, creating a shared life of harmony. However, this stability is shattered when Céline's son, Maxime, dies in an accident that Alice witnesses but cannot prevent. In her grief, Céline blames Alice for failing to save the boy, causing their friendship to collapse into a cycle of accusations and fear of revenge.

Directed by Olivier Masset-Depasse, this film was the first of two credited directorial works, followed by Largo Winch: The Price of Money in 2024. The screenplay was written by Masset-Depasse and Giordano Gederlini. The cast features Veerle Baetens as Alice Brunelle and Anne Coesens as Céline Geniot, supported by Mehdi Nebbou and Arieh Worthalter.
