Short description
A stressed father, a bride-to-be with a secret, a smitten event planner, and relatives from around the world create much ado about the preparations for an arranged marriage in India.
What's left behind the scenes
- A significant portion of the original footage (including shots of the wedding itself) was ruined by X-ray screening at an airport. The lost scenes had to be reshot once the funds became available, which happened only several months after filming had ended.
- To fit within the allotted 30 days of filming, the filmmakers had to cut the story arc regarding the relationship between the groom's parents, played by Seema Sondhi and Roshan Seth.
- The photograph of Surinder (the deceased brother of the character played by Naseeruddin Shah) was actually a photo of one of director Mira Nair's friends who had recently passed away.
