Eli

Eli Miller is a boy with a rare autoimmune condition that makes contact with the outside world dangerous, so he lives sealed off from it. With his parents Rose and Paul running out of options, the family accepts free experimental treatment from Dr. Isabella Horn, who has turned a house into a sterile facility and claims her methods have already helped children like him. Once Eli settles in, he starts seeing things the adults around him dismiss as hallucinations, and the house stops feeling like a refuge.

The film is a horror feature from director Ciarán Foy, whose previous feature was Sinister 2 in 2015. It was written by Ian B. Goldberg, David Chirchirillo and Richard Naing, produced by Trevor Macy and John Zaozirny, and made by Paramount, Intrepid Pictures, MTV Films and Paramount Players on a budget of about 14 million dollars. Charlie Shotwell plays Eli, with Sadie Sink as Haley, Lili Taylor as Dr. Horn, Kelly Reilly and Max Martini as his parents, and Deneen Tyler as Nurse Barbara. It runs 98 minutes.

The response was modest. On IMDb it holds 5.8/10 from roughly 45,000 votes, and on TMDB 6/10 from about 1,500 votes, while a critics' rating of 5.2/10 from 25 reviews places professional opinion slightly below the audience scores.
