Batman Ninja

Gorilla Grodd's time displacement machine malfunctions and sends Batman, several of his allies and many of his worst enemies from modern Gotham City into feudal Japan. There, the villains take on the roles of warring feudal lords, with the Joker emerging as the most dangerous among them and aiming to dominate the divided land. Stripped of the high-tech equipment he normally relies on, Batman must depend on his wits and on allies including Catwoman and the wider Bat-family to restore order and find a way home.

Batman Ninja is an animated action film from 2018, a Japanese-American co-production between DC Entertainment, Warner Bros. Animation, Warner Bros. Japan and Kamikaze Douga. Jumpei Mizusaki directed it, working from a screenplay by Kazuki Nakashima, with character design by Takashi Okazaki. The voice cast includes Koichi Yamadera as Batman, Wataru Takagi as the Joker, Rie Kugimiya as Harley Quinn, Ai Kakuma as Catwoman, Hochu Otsuka as Alfred Pennyworth and Daisuke Ono as Nightwing. The film runs 85 minutes.

It was the first feature Mizusaki directed, followed by Batman Ninja vs. Yakuza League in 2025. Audience scores sit at 5.6/10 on IMDb and 5.9/10 on TMDB, while critics gave it 6.6/10, a slightly warmer response than that of general viewers.
