Amanda Waller assembles a new version of Task Force X, sending a team of imprisoned villains after a powerful mystical object. The group includes Deadshot, Bronze Tiger, Killer Frost, Captain Boomerang, Harley Quinn and Copperhead, and the mission is a race: other parties want the same prize, and the squad's members know that failure likely means death. The story moves through Missouri, among other locations, and pits the team against villains who will not give up the object without a fight.
The film is an animated DC adventure directed by Sam Liu, the thirteenth of the twenty-two features he has directed in chronological order, following Batman and Harley Quinn and preceding Batman: Gotham by Gaslight. Alan Burnett wrote the screenplay, and Liu also produced. The voice cast is led by Christian Slater as Deadshot, with Billy Brown, Kristin Bauer, Gideon Emery, Liam McIntyre and C. Thomas Howell among the main performers, under a credited crew of forty-one.
Suicide Squad: Hell to Pay runs eighty-six minutes and blends action, adventure, animation, fantasy and science fiction. It has found a consistent audience: on IMDb it holds 7 out of 10 from around 19,000 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 7.1 out of 10 from roughly 734 votes. A critics' rating of 7.2 out of 10 from eight reviews places it slightly above both audience scores, indicating broadly favorable notices alongside solid viewer approval.
