Terrified

Something unnatural is at work in a Buenos Aires suburb. A woman is killed by an invisible force while her husband watches. A creature appears at night beside a neighbour's bed. And a boy struck by a car comes back from the cemetery and sits down at the kitchen table. Police commissioner Funes calls in three specialists in paranormal phenomena, and together they try to make sense of the events unsettling the neighbourhood.

Terrified is an Argentine horror film written and directed by Demián Rugna, released in 2018 and running 88 minutes. It was his second feature, following Cursed Bastards! in 2013 and preceding Comando campeón, Satanic Hispanics and When Evil Lurks. The cast includes Maxi Ghione as Funes, Norberto Gonzalo as Jano, Elvira Onetto as Mora Albreck, George Lewis as Rosentock, Julieta Vallina as Alicia and Demián Salomón as Walter. Fernando Díaz produced, with INCAA, Cine Argentino, Machaco Films and Blood Window among the production companies, and 40 crew members credited.

The film's critical and audience reception is positive but measured. A critics' rating of 7.2/10 from 12 reviews sits above the 6.5/10 on IMDb from around 30,000 votes and the 6.7/10 on TMDB from 871 votes, suggesting that reviewers responded somewhat more strongly than the wider viewing public did.
