Cut Throat City

Four childhood friends return to New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina and find the Lower Ninth Ward in ruins, their neighborhood destroyed and their chances of finding work gone with it. With few options left, they turn to a local gangster, who hires them to rob a casino in the middle of the city. The job is meant to solve their problems, but it goes wrong, and the friends end up on the run.

Cut Throat City is a crime drama set in the aftermath of the 2005 storm. RZA directed it from a screenplay by Paul Cuschieri, with William Clevinger, Natalie Perrotta and Kyle Tekiela producing. It was RZA's second feature as director, following The Man with the Iron Fists in 2012. The cast is led by Shameik Moore, Demetrius Shipp Jr., Denzel Whitaker and Keean Johnson as the four friends, alongside Kat Graham and T.I. among 23 credited performers.

The film was released in July 2020 and runs 123 minutes. On IMDb it holds a rating of 4.9 from more than 3,000 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 6.4 from a much smaller number of votes. A critics' score of 6.2 from 44 reviews places it above its IMDb audience rating but close to the TMDB figure.
