Benito Mussolini unexpectedly reappears in Rome decades after his death. Finding Italy still struggling with various social and political issues, he is mistaken for an actor or a comedian by the public. A struggling young documentarian decides to film the former dictator as they travel across the country. As Mussolini interacts with modern Italians, his aggressive speaking style and criticisms of the current establishment gain him a following among people who view him as an eccentric performer speaking uncomfortable truths. He eventually seeks to use this newfound popularity to regain power.
This Italian comedy was directed by Luca Miniero, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Nicola Guaglianone. In Miniero's career, this project follows Welcome to the South and A Boss in the Living Room, and precedes Bentornati al Sud. The film stars Massimo Popolizio in the title role alongside Frank Matano, Stefania Rocca, Gioele Dix, Eleonora Belcamino, and Ariella Reggio.
The production was a collaboration between 3 Marys Entertainment, Cattleya, Indiana Production, and Sky Cinema. It earned 3 million USD at the worldwide box office. Audience reception is mixed, with a rating of 6.2/10 on IMDb based on 2,100 votes and a 5.9/10 on TMDB from 584 votes.
