Short description

What's left behind the scenes
- The lead actors, H.B. Warner and Dorothy Gish, were forced to sign pledges stating that for the next five years, they would not take on roles that could compromise the 'holy' images created for this film. Furthermore, DeMille strictly forbade them from any inappropriate actions or behavior during the production, including attending sporting events, playing cards, visiting nightclubs or other entertainment venues, swimming, and riding in convertibles.
- During filming, H.B. Warner was brought to the set in a car with curtained windows. Upon arriving, he would exit the vehicle with his face covered by a veil and eat in solitude. The tension accompanying his portrayal of Jesus later manifested in the actor's recurring struggles with alcohol.
- While H.B. Warner was in character as Jesus, no one from the cast or crew was permitted to communicate with him. The only exception was the director, Cecil B. DeMille.
- Immediately after the film's release, the Anti-Defamation League called for a boycott on the grounds that Jews were depicted exclusively as Christ-killers. Following this, several scenes that emphasized Jewish involvement in the death of Christ were removed from the film.
- Each filming day concluded with a prayer.
