The Highwaymen

The Highwaymen is a crime drama set in 1934, when Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow are carrying out a string of robberies and killings across the United States while remaining popular with much of the public. With the FBI's modern methods failing to catch the pair, Texas officials bring two retired Rangers, Frank Hamer and Manny Gault, back into service. Commissioned as special investigators, the two older men rely on instinct and old-fashioned police work rather than technology, setting out to track down the fugitives.

John Lee Hancock directed the film, his sixth feature after The Rookie, The Alamo, The Blind Side, Saving Mr. Banks and The Founder. John Fusco wrote the screenplay, and Casey Silver produced. Kevin Costner plays Frank Hamer and Woody Harrelson plays Manny Gault, with Kathy Bates as Ma Ferguson, John Carroll Lynch as Lee Simmons, Thomas Mann as Deputy Ted Hinton and Dean Denton as Deputy Bob Alcorn. It is a large production, with a budget of 49 million dollars and a credited cast of 73 and crew of 47.

On IMDb the film holds 6.9 out of 10 from around 113,000 votes, and on TMDB 6.8 out of 10 from roughly 2,300 votes. A critics' rating of 6 out of 10 from 142 reviews places it close to the audience scores.
