Depraved

Henry, a former military field surgeon, returns from the Middle East unable to recover from what he experienced there. Working alone in a Brooklyn laboratory, he pieces together a living human being from parts of other bodies. The act of creation gives him a purpose, but the being he makes must find his own way in a world he never chose.

Larry Fessenden wrote and directed the film, which followed his 2013 feature Beneath and preceded Blackout in 2023. He also produced alongside Jenn Wexler and Chadd Harbold. David Call plays Henry, with Joshua Leonard as Polidori, Alex Breaux as Adam, Ana Cruz Kayne as Liz, Owen Campbell as Alex and Chloë Levine as Lucy. The production companies were Glass Eye Pix and Forager Film, and the film runs 114 minutes.

Depraved is a contemporary take on the Frankenstein story, moving it into present-day Brooklyn. Audiences were divided: on IMDb it holds 5.6 out of 10 from around 2,200 votes, and on TMDB it also stands at 5.6 out of 10, from a much smaller pool of 62 votes. Critics were notably warmer, giving it 7.3 out of 10 across 55 reviews, a clear gap between professional assessment and viewer response.
