Rimini

Richie Bravo was once a successful Schlager singer, but his fame has faded and he now performs in the winter quiet of Rimini, a resort town largely emptied of its summer crowds. He gets by on concerts for tour groups and on the attentions of older female fans, drinking heavily and gambling away what he earns. His routines are unsettled by two arrivals: his ailing father, who is living out his days in a care home, and his adult daughter, who suddenly re-enters his life and confronts him over money he never provided.

Ulrich Seidl directs from a screenplay he wrote with Veronika Franz. The film is his first narrative feature after a run that includes Dog Days and Paradise: Love, and it arrived the same year as his companion piece Sparta. Michael Thomas leads the cast as Richie, with Tessa Göttlicher as his daughter and Hans-Michael Rehberg as his father, alongside Inge Maux, Claudia Martini and Georg Friedrich. Seidl also produced through his own company, with Georg Aschauer, and the production was a German, Austrian and French co-venture running 115 minutes.

On IMDb the film holds a rating of 6.9 from roughly 2,800 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 6.3 from a much smaller base of about 60 votes, indicating a modest but engaged audience rather than a wide one.
