Wendell & Wild

Wendell & Wild centres on Kat Elliot, a teenage girl with a passion for punk rock who is grieving her parents and carrying guilt over the fire that killed them. Her troubles deepen when she arrives at a Catholic school in her decaying hometown and encounters two scheming demons, Wendell and Wild, who want out of the Underworld and into the Land of the Living. They propose a bargain with Kat that could serve both their ambitions and hers, though the arrangement comes with consequences none of them fully control. The film blends horror, fantasy, comedy and adventure in stop-motion animation.

Henry Selick directs and co-wrote the screenplay with Jordan Peele. It is the fifth feature Selick has directed, following The Nightmare Before Christmas, James and the Giant Peach, Monkeybone and Coraline, and he also produced it alongside Peele and Ellen Goldsmith-Vein. Peele voices the demon Wild, while Keegan-Michael Key voices Wendell. Lyric Ross voices Kat, with Sam Zelaya, James Hong and Angela Bassett among the supporting cast.

On IMDb, the film holds a rating of 6.4 from roughly 15,000 votes, while on TMDB it stands at 6.6 from a much smaller sample of under 400 votes. A critics' rating of 6.9 from 123 reviews sits slightly above the audience scores. The film runs 105 minutes and was released in October 2022.
