Wine Country

Wine Country follows a group of longtime friends who travel to California's Napa Valley for a weekend getaway marking one of their 50th birthdays. Abby, played by Amy Poehler, organizes the trip, bringing together Naomi, Rebecca, Catherine, Val, Jenny and others who have drifted apart over the years. The plan is to relax, reconnect and celebrate, but once the wine starts flowing, old tensions and unresolved disagreements resurface, and the women begin to question whether their friendship still holds.

The film is Amy Poehler's feature directorial debut, and she also appears in the lead role and produced it. She went on to direct Moxie and Lucy and Desi. Liz Cackowski and Emily Spivey wrote the screenplay, and the cast includes Maya Rudolph, Rachel Dratch, Ana Gasteyer, Paula Pell and Emily Spivey. It was produced by Paper Kite Productions and Dunshire Productions and runs 103 minutes.

Released in 2019, Wine Country centers on a reunion comedy about friends confronting where their lives have taken them. Reception among viewers has been mixed: on IMDb it holds a rating of 5.5 from roughly 24,000 votes, and on TMDB it sits at 5.5 from about 550 votes. The modest tallies suggest a film that found a limited audience rather than a broad one.
