Stake Land

Stake Land is set in an America that has fallen apart. Economic and political collapse has left towns and cities abandoned, and a vampire epidemic has spread through what remains. Martin, an ordinary teenager, loses his family and is taken in by a roaming vampire hunter known as Mister, who agrees to guide him north to Canada, regarded as a new Eden untouched by the plague. The journey turns into a hard trek through a dangerous country where the threats include both the infected and other survivors, among them religious fanatics.

The film was released in 2010 and runs 98 minutes. Jim Mickle directed and wrote the screenplay with Nick Damici, who also plays Mister; Connor Paolo plays Martin, with Danielle Harris, Kelly McGillis, Gregory Jones and Traci Hovel in supporting roles. Larry Fessenden, Derek Curl and Adam Folk produced. It is the first feature in the chronological list of Mickle's directing credits, ahead of We Are What We Are, Cold in July and In the Shadow of the Moon.

Audience response has been modest but durable: on IMDb it holds 6.4/10 from around 46,000 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 6.2/10 from roughly 900 votes. A critics' rating of 6.5/10 from 65 reviews places it slightly above both audience scores, indicating a broadly positive but measured reception.
