The Woman in the Window

The Woman in the Window centres on Anna Fox, a child psychologist living alone in a New York townhouse. Agoraphobia keeps her indoors, and she fills her days with old films, alcohol and watching the neighbours across the street, including the Russell family who have just moved in. When she looks out of her window one day, she sees something at the Russells' home that she takes to be an act of violence, though what she witnessed and whether it happened at all become difficult to establish.

Joe Wright directed the film, the eighth of his features in the order listed, following Darkest Hour and preceding Cyrano. Tracy Letts wrote the screenplay and produced alongside Scott Rudin and Eli Bush. Amy Adams plays Anna, with Gary Oldman as Alistair Russell and Anthony Mackie, Fred Hechinger, Wyatt Russell and Brian Tyree Henry in supporting roles.

Made by 20th Century Studios and Fox 2000 Pictures for about 40 million US dollars, the film runs 100 minutes. Its reception was muted: critics gave it 4.7 out of 10 across 219 reviews, while audiences were somewhat kinder, scoring it 5.7 out of 10 on IMDb from around 90,000 votes and 6 out of 10 on TMDB.
