The Last Black Man in San Francisco

Jimmie Fails lives in San Francisco with his friend Montgomery Allen, and he holds on to one ambition: to get back the Victorian house in the city's heart that, by family account, his grandfather built. He visits the place and tends to it uninvited, while the people living there want nothing to do with him. As the neighborhood changes around him and the house's ownership becomes unsettled, Jimmie and Mont look for a way to belong in a city that no longer seems to have room for them.

Joe Talbot directed the film, his first feature, from a screenplay he wrote with Rob Richert; Jimmie Fails and Jonathan Majors lead the cast as the two friends, with Rob Morgan, Tichina Arnold, Mike Epps and Finn Wittrock in supporting roles. The film was released in June 2019 and runs 121 minutes.

On IMDb it holds a 7.3 rating from more than 21,000 votes, and on TMDB a 7 from several hundred. A critics' rating of 8.3 from 212 reviews places it above those audience scores. The worldwide box office came to about 3 million dollars.
