Peter Rabbit has settled into family life with Bea, Thomas and the other rabbits, but he cannot shake his reputation as a troublemaker. Restless and eager for something more than the garden, he leaves home and ends up in the city, where he meets an older rabbit who draws him into a scheme. When his family sets out after him, Peter has to work out what kind of rabbit he wants to be. The film continues the story begun in Peter Rabbit and draws on characters created by Beatrix Potter.
Will Gluck directed and co-wrote the screenplay with Patrick Burleigh, returning after directing the first film. It is the sixth film he directed, following Fired Up!, Easy A, Friends with Benefits, Annie and Peter Rabbit. James Corden voices Peter, with Rose Byrne as Bea, Domhnall Gleeson as Thomas McGregor, David Oyelowo as Nigel Basil-Jones, and Margot Robbie and Elizabeth Debicki as Flopsy and Mopsy. Twenty-nine cast members are credited.
Produced by Animal Logic, Columbia Pictures, MRC and 2.0 Entertainment, the film cost about 45 million US dollars and took roughly 154 million worldwide. On IMDb it holds 6.2 out of 10 from around 17,000 votes, while on TMDB it stands at 7 out of 10 from a much smaller base of 921 votes. A critics' rating of 6.1 out of 10 from 75 reviews places it close to the audience scores. The film runs 93 minutes.
