Running with the Devil

Running with the Devil follows two trusted operatives of a powerful drug cartel, known as The Cook and The Man, who are sent to trace a cocaine shipment that has gone astray on its route from Mexico through the United States to Canada. Their investigation takes them through the layers of the international narcotics trade, past dealers, couriers and refiners, while federal agents pursue the same trail from the other side.

The film was directed by Jason Cabell, who also wrote the screenplay, and was produced by Michael Mendelsohn and Jim Steele. It stars Nicolas Cage as The Cook and Laurence Fishburne as The Man, with Leslie Bibb, Peter Facinelli, Cole Hauser and Clifton Collins Jr. in supporting roles. It was made by Saturn Films, Patriot Pictures and Jaguar Bite, and runs 100 minutes.

Released in 2019, it drew modest responses: on IMDb it holds 5.4 out of 10 from around 11,000 votes, and on TMDB it also sits at 5.4 from roughly 358 votes. A critics' rating of 4.5 out of 10 from 24 reviews places it below even those audience scores, suggesting a largely negative critical reception alongside middling viewer opinion. The production credits list 20 cast members and 120 crew.
