This Soviet musical drama centers on a man with a talent for singing who works in the oil industry. While he initially ignores the suggestions of his friends to pursue a professional music award, their encouragement eventually alters his perspective on art. The story follows his professional life as a drilling master and his complicated relationship with a woman who moves to Moscow for her studies, accompanied by a rival interested in commerce.
