All Day and a Night

All Day and a Night is an American drama about Jah, a young man serving a life sentence, who reflects on the people and circumstances that led him to commit the crime that put him in prison. The story moves between his time behind bars and the days before his arrest, tracing his upbringing with his single mother, his relationship with his pregnant girlfriend, and his efforts to stay out of trouble in a neighborhood that pushes him in the other direction. A desperate act lands him in the same prison as a man he least wanted to see there.

The film was released in 2020 and runs 121 minutes. Joe Robert Cole directed and wrote the screenplay, with Brad Simpson, Nina Jacobson and Jared Ian Goldman producing for Color Force and Mighty Engine. Ashton Sanders plays Jah, and Jeffrey Wright appears as JD. The supporting cast includes Isaiah John, Kelly Jenrette, Shakira Ja'nai Paye and Regina Taylor.

Audience responses were moderate: on IMDb the film holds 6 out of 10 from around 4,800 votes, and on TMDB it has 6.2 out of 10 from roughly 184 votes. A critics' rating of 5.9 out of 10 from 37 reviews places it broadly in line with those audience scores.
