Hope Gap

Grace and Edward have been married for nearly three decades and live quietly in a cottage in a seaside town on the southern English coast. Grace, outgoing and talkative, runs the household, while Edward, reserved and retiring, has reached the end of his career as a teacher. Their settled life falls apart when their son Jamie comes to visit and Edward reveals that he has fallen in love with another woman and intends to leave. What follows is Grace's reckoning with shock, disbelief and anger as she tries to find her footing again, with her son's support, and a measure of hope.

Hope Gap is a British drama written and directed by William Nicholson, his second film as director after Firelight in 1998. Annette Bening plays Grace and Bill Nighy plays Edward, with Josh O'Connor as Jamie, Aiysha Hart as Jess and Ryan McKen as Dev. The film runs 100 minutes and took about 1 million dollars worldwide.
