We Die Young

In a tough Washington, D.C. neighborhood, fourteen-year-old Lucas runs drugs for Rincon, one of the most dangerous gang leaders in the area. Lucas looks after his ten-year-old brother Miguel and is determined that the boy will not be drawn into the same life. The arrival of Daniel, a veteran of the war in Afghanistan, gives Lucas a possible way out, but Rincon has no intention of letting him go quietly.

We Die Young is a 2019 action crime drama directed by Lior Geller, who also wrote the screenplay. It was his first feature, followed by The World Will Tremble in 2025. Jean-Claude Van Damme plays Daniel, with David Castañeda as Rincon, Elijah Rodriguez as Lucas and Nicholas Sean Johnny as Miguel, alongside Joana Metrass and Charlie MacGechan in a credited cast of twenty-seven. The production, a Bulgarian-American co-production made for about four million dollars, balances the brothers' story with the conflict Daniel becomes part of.

Audience responses to the film differ by platform: on IMDb it holds 5.2 out of 10 from roughly five and a half thousand votes, while on TMDB it sits at 6.8 out of 10 from several hundred votes. The gap suggests a mixed reaction among the larger group of viewers and a more favorable one among the smaller.
