Ema

Ema is a dancer in a reggaeton troupe in Valparaíso, Chile, married to Gastón, a choreographer. The two adopted a Colombian boy named Polo, then gave him up, and the fallout leaves their marriage in ruins. Ema leaves Gastón and moves through the port city's dance scene, seeking new relationships while carrying guilt over what happened, and she works toward a plan of her own to bring Polo back. The film follows her as she pursues that goal, clashing with those around her and with Gastón.

Pablo Larraín directed and co-wrote the screenplay with Guillermo Calderón and Alejandro Moreno, with Juan de Dios Larraín producing for Fabula. It followed No, Jackie and Neruda in Larraín's filmography and preceded Spencer, El Conde, Maria and My Sad Dead. Mariana di Girolamo plays Ema, with Gael García Bernal as Gastón, Santiago Cabrera as Aníbal, Paola Giannini as Raquel, Cristián Suárez as Polo and Mariana Loyola as Sara, among 27 credited cast members.
