A manhunt unfolds in a small town after a figure with an extraordinary ability to heal from almost any wound escapes from a medical facility. A priest pursues him as the escapee leaves a trail of violent deaths behind. The chase eventually leads to a house where a paralyzed girl, her younger brother, and their nanny are home.
Joe D'Amato directed this Italian horror film, the twelfth of the twenty-three features he directed in chronological order, following Anthropophagous and preceding Caligula: The Untold Story. George Eastman, who wrote the screenplay, plays Mikos Stenopolis. The cast also includes Annie Belle, Charles Borromel, Katya Berger, Kasimir Berger, and Hanja Kochansky. It was produced by D'Amato and Donatella Donati for Filmirage, Metaxa Corporation, and Cinema 80, and runs ninety-four minutes.
Released in October 1981, the film has drawn modest viewer scores, sitting at 5.3 out of 10 on IMDb from around 4,100 votes and 5.5 out of 10 on TMDB from a much smaller pool of about 110 votes. Those figures place it among the lesser-regarded titles in the director's extensive horror output, though it retains a following among enthusiasts of the period's Italian genre cinema.
