The Endless Trench

Set in a village in Huelva, Spain, during 1936, this historical drama follows a newly married couple, Higinio and Rosa. When the Spanish Civil War begins, Higinio fears retaliation from rebel forces and seeks safety. With the help of his wife, he hides in a hole dug inside their own home, intending for the shelter to be a temporary measure.

The film was co-directed by Jon Garaño, Aitor Arregi, and Jose Mari Goenaga. For Garaño, this was his third directed work, following Flowers and Giant. Arregi had previously directed Giant, while Goenaga had previously directed Flowers. The cast is led by Antonio de la Torre and Belén Cuesta, supported by a credited cast of 27 people. Produced by companies including TVE and Manny Films, the production was a joint effort between Spain and France.

Viewers have given the movie positive marks, with a 7.2 rating on IMDb from 7,055 votes and a 6.9 rating on TMDB from 273 votes. Film critics rated the movie higher than the general audience, providing a score of 7.8 based on 25 reviews.
