In Baltimore, fourteen-year-old Mouse dreams of joining the Midnight Clique, the dirt bike riders who take over the city's streets each summer. His older brother once rode with the crew before his death, and Mouse's mother, still grieving, opposes his interest in bikes. When Blax, the Clique's leader, brings the teenager into the group, Mouse is drawn toward fast money and violence, while a police detective tries to steer him toward a different life. He finds himself pulled between two men and two possible futures.
